Vision of Colour: Harriet Leander at Daróg
Painter and photographer Harriet Leander brings her latest body of work to Daróg Wine Bar this autumn. Harriet whose work draws on a deep sensitivity to her surroundings is on display in Daróg from Monday 1 September to Saturday 25 October 2025.
Born in Helsinki, Finland, Harriet studied at the Art College “Konstfach” in Stockholm, Sweden, before living and working in Basel, Switzerland. She has been based in Galway since 1991, working across oil painting, photography, mixed media, and print.
Her work is deeply rooted in her surroundings, shaped by the shifting light on the Galway landscape and the rhythms of life and nature. Her most recent series, Visions of Colour, explores form and atmosphere through vibrant expressions of colour and texture.
Harriet has exhibited widely in Scandinavia, Switzerland, and Ireland, with notable shows at Rory Mitchell Gallery (Oslo), Town Hall Theatre (Galway), Galleria Dix (Helsinki), Galway City Museum, and Sheridans on the Docks. Her works are held in public and private collections worldwide, including the First Typhoon Gallery in Xiamen, China, and in collections in Paris, Basel, Oslo, Helsinki, and across Ireland, Switzerland, France, Germany, and Scandinavia. The Irish Times critic Aidan Dunne has praised her “great grasp of patterns of energetic flow” and her “instinctive feeling for a distinctive, creamy palette.”
As part of the exhibition Vision of Colour, Harriet will host Le Chéile: An Evening of Creative Conversation on Monday 22 September, 7:00–9:00pm at Daróg Wine Bar. In conversation with Daróg’s owner Edel Lukács, she will share insights into her creative process and the ideas behind her work.
The evening includes a tasting of two wines selected to complement the conversation. Tickets are €20 per person and include the artist talk, two glasses of wine, a pop-up art shop, and 10% off artwork purchases made on the night. Booking is essential.
