All in the Detail — Botanical Art by Jane Stark
There’s a quiet poetry in the way Jane Stark observes the natural world. Her exhibition All in the Detail opens at Daróg on Sunday 26 October and continues until Monday 5 January — a collection that celebrates the hidden architecture of plants through the patient, precise lens of botanical painting.
Jane’s approach is both meditative and meticulous.
“In every plant, from the curve of a petal to the intricate geometry of a leaf, there exists a quiet world of wonder,” she says. “My paintings for All in the Detail are a meditation on that hidden beauty, inviting the eye to linger and the mind to slow.”
Her paintings reveal the extraordinary within the ordinary — from the complex symmetry of a leaf to the soft translucence of a petal. Two of the works on display have been recognised with a Silver Medal at the Botanical & Floral Art in Bloom Exhibition in Dublin’s Phoenix Park.
Jane’s career began in graphic design after graduating from the Ontario College of Art in Toronto in 1967. Having worked across Canada and the US before settling in Ireland, she eventually turned her focus to book design and illustration. Since 2010, she has devoted herself entirely to botanical painting — a practice that merges science and artistry, observation and reverence.
She has been instrumental in Ireland’s botanical art scene, co-founding the Irish Society of Botanical Art and curating the annual Claregalway Castle Botanical Art Expo.
As part of the exhibition, Jane will join Edel Lukács for Le Chéile: An Evening of Creative Conversation on Monday 24 November, where guests can enjoy a guided discussion, a tasting of two wines, and 10% off all artwork purchased on the night.
Tickets (€20 per person) are available now — booking essential.
