Harriet Leander
Painter

Exhibition: Vision of Colour
Gallery Wall: 1 September – 25 October 2025

Harriet Leander is a painter and photographer whose work draws on a deep sensitivity to her surroundings. Born in Helsinki, Finland, she studied at the Art College “Konstfach” in Stockholm, Sweden, before living and working in Basel, Switzerland. She has lived and worked in Galway, Ireland, since 1991.

Her work is deeply rooted in her surroundings, shaped by the shifting light on the Galway landscape and the rhythms of life and nature. Her most recent series, Visions of Colour, explores form and atmosphere through vibrant expressions of colour and texture.

Her practice spans painting, photography, mixed media, and print, often blending materials and techniques to create layered, tactile works. She has exhibited widely in Scandinavia, Switzerland, and Ireland, with notable shows at Rory Mitchell Gallery in Oslo, Town Hall Theatre in Galway, Galleria Dix in Helsinki, Galway City Museum, and Sheridans on the Docks.

Harriet’s works are represented in public and private collections worldwide, including the First Typhoon Gallery in Xiamen, China, as well as collections in Paris, Basel, Oslo, Helsinki, and throughout Ireland, Switzerland, France, Germany, and Scandinavia.
