We were honoured to receive a Gradam in the Tourism Category of Gradam Sheosaimh Uí Ógartaigh 2025. The awards ceremony took place on Monday 24th May at the Galway Bay Hotel in Salthill — a lovely evening celebrating the Irish language and its place in business across the city.
Here at Daróg, we’re proud to integrate Irish into our space — in a gentle way that feels true to us. We’re not fluent Irish speakers, but we value our heritage and we want the language to have a visible and living presence in our wine bar. By gently weaving Irish into signage, menus and throughout the wine bar, we find it opens up moments of curiosity and connection.
Locals often recognise words and phrases and tourists are intrigued too — it gives us a chance to share a little about our culture and the richness of our language. It’s something small that feels meaningful.
Míle buíochas to Gearóidín, Grace, Bríd, and all at Gaillimh le Gaeilge for their encouragement and support on this journey. We’re proud to play a small part in promoting Galway as a bilingual city.
A big congratulations to our fellow Gradam winners:
